The Story Behind Clouds Counselling
I’m Julia, and I offer counselling, psychotherapy, CBT, and equine-assisted therapy from my barn on a farm in the hills above Slaithwaite.
Before training as a therapist, I worked for many years in community and education settings, supporting people from all walks of life. That experience taught me the value of listening, patience, and meeting people where they are.
My training includes counselling and psychotherapy, with further specialist experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Equine Assisted Therapy. This gives me a flexible toolkit, so we can work in the way that feels most helpful to you, whether that’s structured and goal-focused, or more open-ended and exploratory.
Therapy at the barn
The barn and the surrounding land are an important part of the work I do. Therapy here isn’t about a sterile room, it’s about creating space for honest conversations in a setting that feels real, natural, and grounding. For some people, that might also mean working alongside the horses, whose presence offers a unique and powerful way of exploring emotions and connection.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that therapy is about collaboration. I don’t see myself as the expert on your life - you are.
My role is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can reflect, explore, and find new ways forward.
