There are many reasons we feel stressed in life. Some factors may be work-related, or due to relationships and family issues. At Clouds Counselling we look at what causes the stress and learn how to manage the arising emotions in an effective way. In turn, this will help give you clarity and enable you to deal with the feelings as and when they occur.
Self-esteem can be influenced by life events, issues from our childhood, and many others, subsequently impacting the way we perceive and value ourselves, resulting in low self-esteem. We can see both ourselves and the world around us in a negative light. We may feel unhappy and find it more difficult to cope with challenges when they come up.
Over time low self-esteem can have a negative impact on our emotional and physical wellbeing. Sometimes physical or mental health conditions can impact your self-esteem. With Clouds Counselling you can explore your self-esteem and with your therapist develop strategies to make links to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

When losing a loved one it can be difficult to adjust to a life without an important person. People express their feelings of grief in different ways, such as anger and frustration, in contrast, some people avoid conversation, or become numb to the passing. Clouds Counselling aims to aid the person in adjusting to this new life. All loss should be acknowledged to enable the grieving process and helping the person to find acceptance.
For many, society has created a heteronormative ideal which they do not identify with. People who identify as LGBTQ+ may be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, pansexual, asexual, non-binary, or just questioning. They may be discriminated against, or have a lack of understanding from friends, family and colleagues, thus creating a sense of isolation with no one to turn to. This discrimination, homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia can cause depression and suicidal thoughts among other feelings. Clouds Counselling will help you find clarity and vision as you find you are not alone. Clouds Counselling will help build up your self-worth and confidence in who you are, and/or facilitate a transitioning period you may be going through.

Clouds Counselling can offer you an opportunity to explore a deeper insight and awareness into your processes seeking to find an inner peace and calmness within.
Communication difficulties with work colleagues and seniors can often cause friction within the the work environment. You may even feel bullied at work without understanding how to deal with such a situation. All of these issues can be helped by consulting someone who is independent. Here you may want to understand your responses and/or confront the issues.
Whether there are major changes in your work place that leave you without a job, or catapult you into a position where you feel devalued, or deskilled, losing a job is a huge adjustment and it’s normal to feel shock, anger, resentment, relief and much more. All in a short period of time. Being out of work can have a big impact upon your self-esteem and sense of identity. It maybe that your job has been a big part of your life and now you may wonder, “who you are” without a work place to go to.
Be kind to yourself and make sure you give space and time to express these feeling. Clouds Counselling can offer you the space to express these feelings and to talk about what you are experiencing and reflect upon what makes you feel happy and fulfilled.
Being made redundant during this Covid pandemic is nothing to be ashamed of. You are not to blame for this turn of events and having some emotional support at this time can help you to cope.
This may be a difficult time for you to embrace, but it may also become a welcome challenge as a major time in your life. Clouds Counselling can help with: Mental and Emotional Impact Sometimes the greatest impact of retirement can be felt mentally and emotionally. Keeping yourself mentally and emotionally healthy will positively impact you in many ways. You will be less likely to experience depression, and your physical health is more likely to be better. In retirement, you expect to have more time — but to do what? Doing either too little, or too much can lead to the same symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, appetite loss, memory impairment, and insomnia. Why is retirement so stressful? Many things cause stress for adults that are nearing, or in retirement. A few include
Financial concerns: changes in income, worries about having enough money and wondering if you'll be able to take care of yourself. Health worries: growing, or new health problems and changes in insurance coverage are examples.
Retirement depression — feeling sad, or lacking energy and focus after retiring — is surprisingly common. A study published in the Journal of Population Ageing found that those who were retired were about twice as likely to report feeling symptoms of depression than those who were still working! There are the five most common emotional stages of retirement you will probably face when you retire:
Stage 1: Planning
Stage 2: Excitement
Stage 3: Honeymoon
Stage 4: Disenchantment
Stage 5: Reorientation & Stability Transitioning to Retirement.
Sometimes, becoming a parent can be a culture shock. The idea of the potential loss of spontaneity within a person’s life, or a couple’s relationship can also play a part in feelings of frustration. Clouds Counselling engages with these feelings and lays them out in ways that people find manageable and opens their minds to new possibilities.
For whatever reason a relationship is coming to an end, whether it is a mutual decision or an acrimonious decision, divorces can result in difficult and painful emotions.
Young people sometimes struggle to express their feelings to parents, or carers as this is their way to protect these adults and not upset them. For children bottling up emotions can manifest itself into what is perceived as naughty, or difficult behaviour, where as it maybe frustration, or confusion with how they are feeling. In addition, they may not have the language to express themselves and just need someone independent to find ways to access the internal muddle and find a happier way forward.
