Young people sometimes struggle to express their feelings to parents, or carers as this is their way to protect these adults and not upset them. For children bottling up emotions can manifest itself into what is perceived as naughty, or difficult behaviour, whereas it may be frustration, or confusion with how they are feeling. In addition, they may not have the language to express themselves and just need someone independent to find ways to access the internal muddle and find a happier way forward.
